Welcome
[edit]Again, welcome! - Meelar 05:20, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I don't think some of those links make much sense. Melbourne, for example, is not the same thing as City of Melbourne. I think they should all be redircted to articles called City of X or Shire of X etc. Adam 08:40, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Not meaning any disrespect, but when you add to the bus routes page, please make any new location names into wikilinks. Saves me the trouble of doing it later. Thankyou. Hypernovean 11:33, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Melbourne articles
[edit]Hey there, I don't know if you've checked up on the WikiProject Melbourne recently, but a few of us have decided to adopt an article or two. The idea is to pick a lacking article and "be in charge" of it - do the research, writing, maybe even picture-taking. We're trying to build up the number of qualiy articles, instead of thinly-spread stubs. Don't feel you have to do anything :), but if you want, pick an article and add yourself to the list. Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
Hi. We need articles written on Fußball-Bundesliga seasons from 1969/70 through 1975/76, in order to take them off the Wikipedia:Most wanted articles page! Since you've worked on related articles, I thought you might like to take a crack at it. Cheers! -- BD2412 talk 20:34, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:18, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Co-ops
[edit]Nice to see that there is a portal for co-ops and thus a home for the Toubeau article. I found it in articles in need of cleanup after translation but it is a very interesting piece of hidden history. There must be more stuff on the Belgian labour movement that should be in the 'pedia. Request for Help - Thanks!
[edit]Basically, it's for... quite possibly one of the oddest plays to come out of the Victorian period, W. S. Gilbert's Charity. The whole thing is a Shavian analysis of the sexual double standard - how a woman, "fallen" once, is ostracised, but a man can actively corrupt women and be forgiven. Have a look at what we have so far: The plot's still a WIP, because the analysis is so interesting that we just had to do it. One just doesn't expect lines like "Heaven teaches that there is a pardon for every penitent. Earth teaches that there is one sin for which there is no pardon — when the sinner is a woman!" or "Think of any blameless woman whom you love and honour, and who is loved and honoured of all. Think of the shivering outcast whose presence is contamination, whose touch is horror unspeakable, whose very existance is an unholy stain on God's earth. Woman—loved, honoured, courted by all. Woman—shunned, loathed, and unutterably despised, but still—Woman." to come out of a Victorian drama, and, well, this is an article I want to get done right. And this means a short historical background of the Victorian sexual double standard. Adam Cuerden talk 15:48, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Someone trying to hijack WikiProject Gender Studies...
[edit]Fairly long message not copied from my talk page so as not to make clutter here... Cheers, - AmishThrasher 08:30, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm going on holiday in the morning for two weeks, so I probably won't be useful in any kind of extended argument, but I'll have a read after tea and see if there are some comments I can make. --bainer (talk) 09:35, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
This guy is a lunatic, and he's well and truly alone on the matter. I'd just revert him - arguing with him isn't going to change things. Rebecca 11:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- You really shouldn't throw libel around like that, law student. It's really not very sporting of you, hon. Nkras 02:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand exactly what he's saying, so I don't know if I can help. I'm on holiday in Sydney at the moment, so I don't think I can do too much, although I don' t think he'll make too much headway. Leon 01:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I think the best course of action is to revert and ignore. There is no basis to any of this rubbish other than trolling. Thanks for the heads-upAnAn 23:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Gender studies POV-pushing
[edit]Sorry about that: I was on a bit of an unannounced semi-WikiBreak where I was editing a bit, but not looking at my talk page, as I didn't want to be suddenly pulled into something major. Has it sorted out, and the misogynist been battled off? Adam Cuerden talk 01:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Project Gender Studies
[edit]Hi AmishTrasher, thanks for your comment over in Talk Project Gender Studies. It looks like nobody's around on that page and I wanted to start a discussion about whether the project page should be unprotected so it could be editted to give balance to both of its aims. (BTW well done for saving the page back in December - if I had found the project back then I would of tried to help you out). The consensus seems to be to seperate the removal of systemic bias into a new project - that discussion is here (I also proposed some additions to the projects aims at the bottom of that discussion). I suggested some changes to the project's graphics last week and made the neccessary alterations to the project page this weekend - if you have any views on them (or want them reverted) there's a discussion on the talk page here) : )--Cailil 00:05, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Mark (professional wrestling)
[edit]I've nominated Mark (professional wrestling), an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Mark (professional wrestling) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark (professional wrestling) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Mark (professional wrestling) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Sandstein 06:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I strongly urge you to find a reference or two for the article. It seems a shame for so much work to be potentially lost. --Dweller 12:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Fifth Melbourne meetup
[edit]The fifth meetup of Melbourne Wikipedians is being planned as a breakfast meeting in the city with Jimbo Wales (at a venue to be arranged) on Friday, 27 April 2007.
Jimbo has proposed breakfast as the one real window of opportunity during his tightly scheduled stay in Melbourne. Tbe precise time has to be sorted out with Jimbo, but the arrangements for the equivalent Adelaide meetup a few days before may give a good idea.
Feel free to edit the relevant page in any way that might be helpful. I feel like a bit of an interloper, not having attended previous meetups. If there's anything you can do to help, I'll be grateful. Please think about whether you'll be able to make it, assuming the arrangements are similar to those Adelaide is adopting (i.e. a block of time with people being fairly free to arrive when it suits them). Some indication on the page of your possible participation would be really helpful. Metamagician3000 06:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Taco Bill, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Taco Bill seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Taco Bill, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:41, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Notice of Wikimedia Australia incorporation meeting
[edit]Dear Wikimedian,
I am writing to you as your named is listed at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia under "People interested in helping to create a local chapter". Wikimedia Australia's draft rules have been approved by the Wikimedia Foundation, and we now intend to incorporate in the state of Victoria. You are hereby informed of the intention to hold a Wikimedia Australia meeting on 20th April 2008 with the intention to
(a) authorize a person who has attained the age of 18 years and who is resident in the State to incorporate Wikimedia Australia under the Victorian Associations Incorporation Act 1981; [that is, elect a Public Officer] (b) approve a proposed statement of purposes of Wikimedia Australia; and (c) approve the proposed rules of Wikimedia Australia.
A majority of members must vote to pass the motion to incorporate as an association, for it to meet the requirements of the Act.
The proposed rules, and proposed statement of purpose, can be found here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Draft_Rules_for_Wikimedia_Australia_Inc
Details of the incorporation meeting, including local meetings (to be joined up by teleconferencing, with any luck) and the agenda, can be found here:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Incorporation
In particular, you are invited to attend the Melbourne meeting:
- Time: 3pm
- Date: Sunday 20th April 2008
- Location: Computerbank, North Melbourne
- RSVP (optional): at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Incorporation/Melbourne or http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=12283635078
I also encourage you to take part in discussion on the mailing list: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/Wikimediaau-l
If you are unable to attend, you can vote by proxy. Please copy the proxy form at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Proxy_form and send it to me in an email. (It is better to appoint a generic member, e.g. "Meeting Chair" or "Acting Secretary", both of whom will be of Melbourne, rather than a specific member, but the choice is yours.)
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Yours sincerely, Brianna Laugher Provisional Secretary, Wikimedia Australia

Proposed deletion of Co-operative Commonwealth (society)
[edit]The article Co-operative Commonwealth (society) has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.--M4gnum0n (talk) 09:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello AmishThrasher! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:
- Collette Roberts - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Gray Line Melbourne
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Gray Line Melbourne requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Proposed deletion of Confédération Nationale de la Mutualité, de la Coopération et du Crédit Agricoles
[edit]The article Confédération Nationale de la Mutualité, de la Coopération et du Crédit Agricoles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
being notable in French Wikipedia does not make it notable in English
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Chidgk1 (talk) 14:07, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
